Healthcare AI

A clinician inside the development and evaluation loop: what a model says, what it leaves out and what it could do to a patient.

Clinical evaluation of language models

Review of answers on rehabilitation, respiratory care and musculoskeletal health: clinical plausibility, relevant omissions, clarity for the patient and red flags the model should have mentioned.

Rubrics and annotation guidelines

Designing quality criteria that two reviewers can apply the same way: what counts as a minor, serious or critical error, and how to score an answer that is correct but incomplete.

Multilingual review

Spanish, French, English and Portuguese, with attention to clinical terminology and to differences between health systems, which a model translates easily and adapts poorly.

Multi-model systems

Development of AGORA, a personal system that queries several models and compares their answers until they reach a reasoned consensus. Disagreement between models is treated as a signal that deserves human review, not as noise.

Ethics and limits

Certified training in AI ethics from the University of Helsinki. My position: AI supports clinical judgement and does not replace it, and no patient data should enter a system without a clear basis for doing so. I do not diagnose through this website and I do not certify medical devices.

Approach

How I understand the body and pain, and how I bring that into the clinic.

Pain is not the same as damage

Pain is a protective construction of the nervous system, and it can persist after tissue has healed. Intense pain does not by itself mean a serious injury, and understanding this changes what the patient dares to do.

Body and mind are one system

Beliefs, fear, mood and sleep shape pain and recovery as much as tissue does. My psychology training lets me measure them (illness beliefs with the IPQ-R, for example) instead of assuming them.

Explain before treating

A patient who understands what is happening, what is expected of them and how long it will take adheres better and fears less. Education is part of the treatment, not a preliminary step.

Movement and progressive loading

Dosed exercise is the base of most plans. Passive techniques and physical agents have their place when they open a window to move better, not as a substitute for movement.

Measure, do not assume

Explicit progression criteria (range, strength, load tolerance, pain response) so patient and therapist know why they advance or wait. This is also where my interest in instrumentation comes from.

Persistent pain

In chronic pain, such as complex regional pain syndrome, the realistic goal is to regain function and confidence in stages. My biopsychosocial rehabilitation framework is openly published.

Career

I started in Galicia, spent eight years practising in France and its overseas territories, and came back to Galicia to combine clinical work with digital health and evidence. Open each stage to see what I did and with what.
